Original James Edward Barnes Burled Wood Turned Vessel. A unique piece measuring approximately 16” tall. Base diameter is 3.5”. There are some light scratches throughout the vase. Base shows some damage as well (see last picture). No cracks. James Edward Barnes, a Blue Ridge Mountain wood turner, uses woods native to southeastern Virginia and inlays exotic woods. He looks for stumps, burls, or gnarled trees. His vision is in the design; ancient forms with a modern twist. The vessel serves as his canvas. The result is a combination of nature and the artist's touch.
