In this short film, John Fleetwood gives an insight into the thinking behind the pilgrimage with contributions from fell runner, Joss Naylor; climber, Leo Houlding; politician, Rory Stewart; and the then Bishop of Carlisle, James Newcombe.
Illustrated in this booklet is a seven-stage route, with alternative options at the end of the booklet. For each stage you will find highlights of the route, optional scrambles, details of seven natural cathedrals and suggestions for accommodation and refreshment.
The pilgrimage is a journey through the English Lake District that takes a road less travelled of 275km and 18,500 metres of ascent. The higgledy-piggledy route weaves some of the best bits of the Lakes together and was first completed in June 2016 by John Fleetwood.
